Last week I asked a question, and I’ve been thinking about the answer ever since. Just in case you missed it, here’s the question:
What are you doing this season to prepare for the next season?
In light of current affairs in South Africa and around the world, let me just let you know that South Africa instituted a countrywide lockdown for 21 days (in response to the Covid-19 breakout) a few days after I shared the blog. That increased the weight of the question. Just like that, a new season and cycle began.
There is so much one can say during this time, but a thought I cannot shake off is this: the seeds you sow in this season will bear fruits according to the principle of seed, time & harvest.
And this is especially true for those of us who jumped onto the opportunity to do things during this lockdown period. We started working on some habits, completing overdue tasks and creating new habits.
The fruits will come ... not immediately, but they will come! Because that’s how seasons work! Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring ...
This is our spring, but harvest comes in the fall. And between springtime and harvest-time lies the scorching heat of summer!
This might be coming out a bit too early, but like I said, I can’t shake off the thought. As you maximise on this season, please do not fall into the trap of thinking that once the season is over, you will immediately see the fruits. Seed. Time. Harvest.
And if you are in a position where you are reaping rewards in this season, don’t forget to sow seeds for the coming seasons. A close friend of mine said this: In whatever season you are, you must always be thinking about the next season or you’ll fall behind and start saying things like ‘the good old days’.
And if you’ve never done this type of thing consciously before, there’s no better time to start! Start now! Find a community that‘s doing what you want to do, a community that will engage with you, support you and hold you accountable and start. We cannot change the rules of the game. Seed. Time. Harvest. Yea you’ve made it this far, but at some point, you are going to switch off autopilot and start being intentional about what you are building. Do not miss this opportunity.
The fruits of your labour will surely come, and the best thing about fruits is that they don’t lie.
But don’t forget ... Seed. Time. Harvest.
