We thought we should take some time out and recap on some of the nibbles we’ve given you over the past weeks. We looked over them and realised that together, they make a nice collection, a menu if you’d like. A trip down memory to help you connect the dots and see the whole menu.
We started off with the simple notion that
“you are the common denominator in all your experiences.”
The idea here was to highlight to you that acknowledging that you are the common denominator allows you to take full responsibility for the things you have experienced. Not only that, but it also allows you to extract value from all your experiences. It allows you to look inward and ask yourself an important question …
Is there anything I can learn from this and use it to improve the experience, or how I experience something similar next time?
That concept of looking inward popped up again when we were talking about multiple personalities. The idea here is that we all have multiple personalities … “me, myself and I”, “mind, body and soul”, “thoughts, feelings and emotions” … whichever way you look at it, we all have multiple personalities. They can either be in order, or in disorder. What we need to do to create order is to look inward, acknowledge, accept and align.
Find inner alignment and watch your outer world blossom.
Talk to yourself, listen to yourself, hold an executive meeting with all the you’s and make decisions that are beneficial for you, all of you!
And do that with intention. This is another item on the menu. We looked at how we need to be intentional about us.
Being intentional about you.
Do the things that concern you with purpose; do them deliberately. Do not let things catch you off-guard, don’t walk around aimlessly hoping you will hit something because you will but it won’t be what you want. You know how the saying goes … if you never aim, you will always hit. Do not allow the false sense of hitting the things you never aimed at to distract you from building the life you want to live. Be intentional about you.
And to wrap up our menu, we touched on the notion of awareness.
Are you aware of the sacrifices you are making and the work you are putting in to become who you want to be?
Let’s take this menu in its entirety as an example. It takes work to implement everything on it.
To acknowledge that you are the common denominator in all your experiences and take responsibility for them is work, it’s a sacrifice because sometimes you feel like placing the responsibility on the other person. Extracting lessons from your experience in order to improve the next one is work … work that you are putting in.
It takes a great deal of strength and courage to consistently and constantly acknowledge the personas in you, accept them for who they are and create inner alignment. You sacrifice a lot to get it done! Chairing a meeting with “people” who all want to be right is a tough job, a job you are doing.
Intention takes sacrifice, it takes work, it takes strength and it takes courage. To wake up daily and be deliberate about the things that concern you is a full-time job! You are constantly conscious of the decisions you are making because you want them to work for you and not against you.
The question simply becomes this …
are you aware of the fact that you are making these sacrifices?
Are you aware of just how much you’re putting in? Because if you are, you will settle for nothing less than the best, nothing less than excellence.
Some parting thought to nibble on...
All of these thoughts and concept have one central focus… you!
It’s all about you and all of you!
Take that and run with it!
