Last week I asked what I believe to be a critical question and immediately after asking it, I was struck with a thought.
Do you know? Have you decided what winning is for you? Because we can ask you to have “plans to win” until our faces turn blue but if you don’t know what winning is for you, or what it looks like or what it feels like, we’re wasting time.
Every game we play has clear definitions of what winning is; a checkmate of some sort. We need that in our lives as well ... checkmate moments, or at least knowing what needs to be in place before we can say checkmate!
As a student, what’s your checkmate moment? As a junior employee, what’s your checkmate moment? As business person, what’s your checkmate moment? Once you’ve defined your checkmate moment, it will be easy for you to know what you need to quit in order to move closer and closer to calling checkmate!
If your checkmate moment is getting 5 distinctions, what do you need to stop doing in order to ensure that you will arrive at your checkmate moment?
So if you’re struggling to digest last week’s food for thought, put that plate to the side and try this for breakfast:
What does winning look like to you? What is your checkmate moment?
Oh and remember, Black Lives Matter!
